Parents registering their children for school this month are being reminded there is Gaelic language provision available in South Lanarkshire.

Mount Cameron Primary and Nursery School in East Kilbride is the first step for parents who wish their child to enter Gaelic Medium Education.

Pupils can then move on to Calderglen High School, where they can continue their Gaelic Education to Higher and Advanced Higher level.

Chair of the council’s Education Resources Committee, Councillor Lynsey Hamilton, said: “We know that parents across South Lanarkshire may not be aware of the fantastic opportunities that exist for their children to maintain or achieve fluency in Gaelic.

“From entering nursery, to primary school and all the way through to the final years in high school, we offer a comprehensive and dedicated Gaelic language journey.

“Gaelic Medium Education is open to everyone, those who speak Gaelic and those who do not.”

Mount Cameron Primary and Nursery School is happy to welcome parents who may wish to visit and find out more – contact the school by email or call 01355 232062.

More details on registering your child for school can be found on the council website.
